An Illinois man is dead following a Tuesday evening boating accident northeast of Orr.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the man, 55, was thrown from the boat he was in when it apparently hit an underwater rock. The victim was a life jacket, and CPR was administered after the accident, but to no avail.
Authorities are withholding the man's name until his family has been notified.
The accident happened on Jeanette Lake approximately 35 miles northeast of Orr around 6:20 p.m..
