The Biwabik Fire Department is one of two northern Minnesota departments to receive a Department of Homeland Security grant for fire operations and firefighter safety.
Biwabik's fire department has been awarded a $27,374 Assistance to Firefighters grant, according to U.S. Congressman Jim Oberstar.
The program enhances first reponders' ability to protect the health and safety of the public, said Oberstar.
The Walker Ambulance Service received an $18,288 grant.
