Big Top Chautauqua founder Warren Nelson has checked himself into a treatment facility, two weeks after an alleged sexual assault involving a female friend.
Ruth Goetz, president of Big Top's board of directors, said Nelson checked himself into a facility Monday, but declined to say which one or specifically what he is being treated for.
Goetz said the board supports his endeavor and wants him to get the help he needs.
Nelson is due to appear in court Feb. 24 in Bayfield County for charges of sexual assault and battery for the Jan. 26 alleged incident.
