June 16 is, traditionally, Bloomsday, the day on which all the events of James Joyce's world-changing novel "Ulysses" occur. And Bloomsday is cele-brated all over the world by readings of the great work. Here in Duluth, that reading will occur at Carmody Irish Pub, home of all things Irish. Many local residents, known and unknown, will participate, taking their turn at reading a section of the beloved tome. Reading will start at 6 p.m. Monday at the pub, 308 E. Superior St., and will continue till all the words are said, ending in Molly Bloom's "Yes"--or, conversely, until closing time when the police say "No." Call 740-4747. It's free.
And also at Carmody, rapidly becoming the Capital of Poetry and Beer: noted poets Louis Jenkins and Freya Manfred will read their work there June 20, starting at 8 p.m. Again, the event is gratis.
