It’s here, “Hunger” heads: Part I of the series finale “Mockingjay” gets a night screening today at Duluth Cinema and Lakes Cinema.
When we last saw our hero Katniss Everdeen, she was out-bow hunting and out-fashioning her peers in some pretty unforgivable ways. And, not to mention, breaking all sorts of hearts. Meanwhile, all sorts of terrible things were happening around the country that had been divided into districts.
For those new to Earth: This all started with the dystopian premise that every year, a boy and girl are randomly selected from each district to compete in an athletic-wilderness competition in which the winner is the one who out-lives everyone else - in front of a rabid home audience.
Somehow Katniss and her fellow district rep have tricked fans into believing they are in love, so an exception is made.
As “The Hunger Games,” based on the series by Suzanne Collins, moves toward its exciting conclusion, Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) is living in the rarely referenced District 13. It’s up to her to save her Games mate Peeta - and the whole country.
If previous openings have been any indication, expect to see plenty of fans wearing the Everdeen outfit of braids, functional pants and utility jackets.
