Bellisio's was awarded the "Best of Award of Excellence" for its outstanding wine selection by Wine Spectator magazine for the second year in a row, Brian Daugherty, Grandma's vice president of marketing, announced.
The list of award winners was published in the 2001 dining guide section of the Sept. 30, 2000, issue of Wine Spectator, which lists restaurants presented with this distinguished honor. The "Best of Award of Excellence" recognizes restaurants with those exceptional wine lists which reflect savvy buying, exhibit depth in mature vintages, and are in harmony with the menu.
Of the 2,332 awards given worldwide, a fraction are considered "Best of Award of Excellence." Only five Minnesota restaurants received this award, Bellisio's being the only one in the state listed as having an "inexpensive wine menu." Bellisio's was also the only restaurant to receive the "Best of Award of Excellence" award north of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Other restaurants that shared this award include 21 Club, New York, N.Y; Spago Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills, Calif.; Papa Giovanni, Rome, Italy, among others.
Bellisio's, founded in 1998, boasts well over 500 selections of wine and a myriad of vineyards with 100 available by the glass. Flights, a sample of four related wines, are available to assist you in finding the perfect selection.
