The Duluth East boys tennis team moved one step closer to defending their crown as section 7AA champions for a third year in a row with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday over Cloquet High School in the North Subsection quarterfinals. The Hounds swept the four singles matches with straight set wins in every match with senior captain Jake Tideman leading the way with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Cloquet's Colton Roy at one singles. Freshman Kevin Seiler also came up with a big win at two singles over Dylan Bueslie 6-4, 7-5. Freshman Bauer LeSavage and sophomore Greg Peckham won at three and four singles.

In doubles, senior Jake Decatur partnered with freshman Nels Torgrimson at number two to produce a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory, senior as Eric Jordan and sophomore Owen Downs also won at three with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Senior Hans Sandholm and sophomore Andy Welinski scored the final point for the Greyhounds with a victory in a very close match that was decided in a third set super tie breaker at one doubles; the score was 5-7, 7-5, 14-12.

The Greyhounds will play Cambridge-Isanti High School in the Section Semifinals on Tuesday May 26.
