The American flag assembled in Bayfront Festival Park will come down Friday at 9 a.m.

The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans-Duluth created the flag out of 3,500 small flags as a symbol of the state's homeless veterans and how some veterans need help. This past year, MACV-Duluth has helped 165 veterans and their families, and had to turn more away because of a lack of funds.

People can help by stopping by Bayfront Festival Park between 7 and 9 a.m. Friday and making a donation to the group. People making donations will be able to take one or more of the small flags with them.
