Minnesota's Teacher of the Year for 2016 will give a talk Tuesday at the College of St. Scholastica.
Abdul Wright, an eighth-grade language arts teacher at Best Academy in Minneapolis, will speak on "Equitable Leadership: Transforming Lives and Communities" at 7 p.m. in the college's Somers Lounge.
Wright is the first charter school teacher and the first black man to win the Teacher of the Year honor, according to a St. Scholastica news release.
The talk, which is sponsored by St. Scholastica's Office of Inclusive Excellence and hosted by the college's Student Education Association, is free.
