The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 74-year-old woman who died after the vehicle she was a passenger in struck a tree in the Side Lake area early Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that Ros-Linda Rowe Runde of Virginia died from multiple blunt force injuries resulting from the crash. Her son, Terry S. Runde, 53, of Hibbing was driving the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the one-vehicle crash on the 12000 block of East Road, about 17 miles north of Chisholm, just before 4:45 a.m. It was believed that the car left the roadway after the driver swerved to miss a deer, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The mother was taken to Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing where she was pronounced dead. Her son had “several injuries,” but the severity was not further described.
