Authorities have identified the victim of Wednesday's fatal collision between a car and a train in Carlton County.
The Carlton County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that Susan McPhail, 67, was killed just before 8 a.m. Wednesday when her vehicle collided with a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train on Minnesota Highway 210.
The accident happened where the highway intersects with Birchwood Drive near Wright.
Officials reported that McPhail was from Wright. An obituary submitted to the News Tribune identified her as a former Cloquet resident now living in New Mexico.
The Carlton County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Burlington Northern are investigating the accident.
