A 14-year-old boy was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol early Saturday morning, after allegedly admitting that he had been driving a vehicle for its intoxicated adult owner, who was riding along.
A trooper stopped the vehicle at 12:54 a.m. for speeding at the intersection of Highway 63 and Beal Avenue in Hayward. The trooper observed the juvenile driver jump into the rear seat.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the driver had been smoking marijuana. The 14-year-old submitted to a blood test, and the results are pending.
The underage driver was released to a responsible adult.
Charges are pending for the vehicle owner.
