The fifth annual Chalk.a.Lot Festival will make its way back to Thomas Owens Park on July 16-17, showcasing both local and visiting talent on the sidewalks of downtown Two Harbors.
"What's unique about this artform/festival is that there are people engaging together in these drawings," said Michelle Ronning, organizer of the festival.
"There is this element of featured artists, established artists, emerging artists, all in the same spot, sharing tips and techniques, sharing chalk, sharing space, with no pressure, just total fun," Ronning said.
The festival will also include food vendors, art activity booths, street performers and music.
Free chalking clinics will be offered at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday in Thomas Owens Park for those who wish to learn tips and tricks on sidewalk drawing. The festival runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and continues Sunday at 8 a.m. until awards are given out at 2 p.m.

There is a lot of work that is put into Chalk.a.Lot, and volunteers are needed for both setup and takedown. Street performers are also wanted to perform on Saturday during the festival. Michelle Ronning can be contacted at (218) 590-4532 if people are interested or have any questions.
