Animal Allies cat adoption special: Twice the love at half the price

If one cat or kitten is a good thing, then of course two can only be better. Through Aug. 8, you can take advantage of Animal Allies' "Double the Love" program, getting two new felines for the newly lowered price of one.

If one cat or kitten is a good thing, then of course two can only be better. Through Aug. 8, you can take advantage of Animal Allies' "Double the Love" program, getting two new felines for the newly lowered price of one.

Why the great offer? It's a part of Animal Allies' Campaign for Zero program, working to eliminate euthanasia of healthy companion animals and designed to increase accessible and affordable animal adoptions in our community. Through daylong adoption events, programs for seniors and permanent satellite adoption locations in the Northland, Campaign for Zero has lowered adoption fees and plans to place more than 1,200 cats in loving homes this year alone.

But back to you: Have you been considering a new cat or kitten for your family? Are you thinking it's time to adopt a cat or two for companionship? Then the "Double the Love" program is just what you've been waiting for. You can adopt one cat or kitten at Animal Allies through Aug. 8 and get the second one absolutely free! For one low fee, both your new cats will be spayed or neutered, licensed, up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped for easy veterinary identification in the event of loss.

Cats and kittens are sociable animals, and adopting two ensures that they will provide companionship for one another while you're away.

With the "Double the Love" program, you might be able to keep a mother cat and her kitten together, or introduce two cats to new friends and a companionable home. Or you might adopt an older cat that can mentor a kitten, teaching him the ways of cathood. No matter what you choose, you can now double your enjoyment of having a furry companion around the house.

If cats aren't your pets of choice, you should know that Animal Allies has dogs in all shapes and sizes at the shelter as well. While they're not a part of the "two-for-one adoption fee" special at this time, they are also loving and playful companions in desperate need of happy homes. Summer's here, and your new pet would love to be able to run and play and go to the beach with you rather than sitting around the shelter waiting to be adopted.

To take advantage of the "Double the Love" program, bring your family to Animal Allies in Duluth (4006 Airport Road) to visit the cats and kittens for adoption, or view cats and dogs online at www.animalallies.net .

If you're unable to adopt at this time, you might consider volunteering at the shelter. Families and friends are needed to socialize animals and walk the dogs.

For more information about volunteering, call Animal Allies at 623-6343.
