Duluth police want to advise citizens of suspicious activity related to a local Craigslist posting.
In recent weeks Duluth police have received calls from citizens of suspicious activity related to a Craigslist ad they responded to. Callers told police that they responded to a Craigslist advertisement for "child identification kits." Afterward a male claiming to be a police officer showed up at their homes in relation to the ad.
Callers told police that the male started asking inappropriate or unrelated questions, which made them suspicious. The male is not from any local law enforcement agency and is described as 40 to 50 years old, 5-feet-10, medium build, gray hair and silver-wired rim glasses. Nothing further happened in any of the incidents.
Police ask anyone that has experienced anything similar to call 911 to report it.
Police want to caution citizens on giving personal information when responding to Internet advertisements from unknown individuals or businesses.
