Entitled "Musical Interludes," the recitals are free and run from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. each Wednesday through March 16, involving nine area churches and six organists.

Wednesday's opening actually involves two recitals. The first is set for St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1710 E. Superior St., featuring organist William Percy. The second is at Knife River Lutheran Church in Knife River and features organist Samuel Black.

Other recitals are as follows:

  • On Feb. 23, Black will give a recital at Duluth Congregational Church.
  • On March 2, organist Michael Elsbernd will play at First Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Superior St.
  • On March 9, organist Carol Donohue will play at First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Parkway.
  • On March 16, four recitals will be given. Organist Janet Jennings will play at First Covenant Church, 21st Avenue West and Second Street. Black will play at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. Organist Vicki Gornick will play at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, and musicians from Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 830 Belknap in Superior, will offer a recital. The Pilgrim recital runs from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.

All of the concerts are free and open to the public. Each will present music appropriate to the Lenten season.
