ST. PAUL — Authorities are investigating after a man was fatally struck by an Amtrak train on Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, in Fridley, Minn.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the man was on the eastbound tracks in the 8200 block of Ashton Avenue Northeast shortly after 7 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene after authorities were summoned.
The train, Amtrak’s Empire Builder to Chicago, was on its way to Union Depot in downtown St. Paul.
The victim wasn’t immediately identified pending investigation by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
The sheriff’s office and Fridley police are also investigating the incident.
