The death of a 45-year-old Squaw Lake, Minn., man who was killed Tuesday after he exited a stalled vehicle and was struck by another driver remains under investigation.
Tommy John Schultz was standing on Minnesota Highway 46, in Alvwood Township in Itasca County, near a stalled vehicle in the southbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Samuel Vernon Krueger, 30, of Max, Minn., said a Minnesota State Patrol news release.
Schultz died at the scene, the State Patrol said.
Krueger was traveling south in a GMC Sierra pickup when the crash occurred at 9:12 p.m. No charges have been filed in the case, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the State Patrol said.
"A crash reconstruction is being done," State Patrol spokesperson Neil Dickenson said.
Itasca County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Squaw Lake Fire Department responded to the scene.
