A 63-year-old Moose Lake man was killed Friday afternoon after his car rolled as he was run off Interstate 35 near North Branch, Minn. by a speeding driver.
Joeffre Michael Kolosky was driving a 2003 Buick Park Avenue and traveling north on I-35 early Friday morning, when a Toyota Tundra traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended the Buick, causing it to leave the roadway to the right and roll, a Minnesota State Patrol news release said.
The 23-year-old driver of the 2001 Tundra fled the scene but was located and apprehended a short time later, the State Patrol said. Alcohol was involved, the State Patrol said.
The man remains in Chisago County Jail, and is being held on pending charges related to criminal vehicular homicide, drug possession and driving while intoxicated. His name is being withheld, because the News Tribune does not generally identify suspects until they have been charged.
The crash occurred at mile post 149 at 5:28 a.m. Friday.
Kolosky appears to have died at the scene; he was wearing his seat belt, but was not transferred to a hospital, according to the State Patrol news release.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office assisted in the incident.
