A motorcyclist was injured in a crash Sunday afternoon after being hit by a distracted driver.

Police responded to the 4000 block of West Superior Street at 4:32 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. According to the Duluth Police Department, an SUV driven by a Duluth man, was heading west on Superior Street when it crossed the centerline, striking a motorcycle traveling east.

Police said the Duluth man admitted to using a cellphone at the time of the crash. The driver of the motorcycle, a Forest Lake, Minn. man, was transported to a local hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police said the incident is still under investigation, but the driver of the SUV is expected to be, at minimum, cited for use of wireless communications device while driving.
