Former Hoyt Lakes fire, police chief victim of Biwabik garbage truck pinning
Steven Allen Stoks of Hoyt Lakes was the man who died Monday morning after being pinned between a garbage truck, fence and Dumpster in Biwabik, authorities said Tuesday. He was 61.
Stoks previously served as fire chief and police chief for Hoyt Lakes.
“The Hoyt Lakes Fire and Ambulance is mourning the loss of retired firefighter/former Chief Steven Stoks,” the department wrote on Facebook. “He served Hoyt Lakes and surrounding communities for 32+ years. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Stoks was found deceased just before 8:30 a.m. Monday by first responders at 310 Main St. in Biwabik. The Gilbert Police Department in a news release thanked “the citizens that assisted with the incident” but provided no other details. Gilbert police, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the incident.
