Authorities said early today that 911 service is available again in northern St. Louis County after being out for much of the night.

A cut fiber-optic line in the Orr area caused the outage on Thursday evening, which affected the Orr, Cook, Crane Lake, Boise Forte and Kabetogama areas. Local numbers and fire halls were staffed for those who had to report emergencies.

Service was restored at about 1:30 a.m.
