9 charged in burglary case in Itasca County

Nine people were charged in Itasca County with multiple felonies Wednesday.

The nine were involved in a burglary/stolen property ring that operated in Itasca, Koochiching and Aitkin counties between the fall of 2010 and August 2011, Itasca County Attorney John J. Muhar said. The Itasca County Sheriff's Office recovered more than $75,000 in stolen property, including a sawmill, guns, motor vehicles and construction tools.

Charges against the defendants include burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, forgery and possession of a controlled substance.

The defendants are:

  • Richard Charles Giles, 43, of Bovey. Originally charged on Aug. 22, the complaint against him was amended Wednesday to charge him with 12 felonies.

  • Kerri Lee Hann, 29, of Grand Rapids faces four felony and one misdemeanor count.
  • Dale Lee Hughes, 45, of Bovey faces two felony counts.
  • Wayne Dale Hughes, 49, of Grand Rapids, faces three felony counts and one misdemeanor count.
  • Michael Paul Kylochko, 28, of Grand Rapids faces three felony counts and one misdemeanor count.
  • Michael Willard Struble, 54, of Marble faces three felony and two gross misdemeanor counts.
  • Brian James Svoboda, 25, of Bovey faces four felony counts.
  • Andrea Katherine Voves, 20, of Kimball, Minn., faces two felony counts.
  • Cynthia Renee Wick, 43, of Bovey faces three felony counts. According to court documents, authorities searched Giles' property twice in August, recovering stolen items. Giles later told investigators that he had committed about 20 burglaries or thefts over the past two years in Itasca, Koochiching and Aitkin Counties. He said several of his co-

    defendants had helped him in the burglaries or helped him hide stolen property.
