A pole fire appears to be the cause of an outage in the Duluth neighborhoods of Piedmont, Lincoln Park, Denfeld, Fairmount and Irving on Monday evening.

According to the Minnesota Power electric outage map, about 1,900 customers are affected, though the count once grew up to about 3,000.

"Crews are working to restore power," stated a tweet from Minnesota Power, citing a pole fire as a possible cause. "Additional line workers have been called in to restore power as quickly and safely as possible."

The power company later issued a follow-up tweet at 6:39 p.m. stating that crews hoped to "restore segments of power through switching as much as possible" and asked for patience.

Several of the Duluth incidents have a new estimated power restoration time of 11:45 p.m. Previously the outage map cited 7:15 p.m. as an estimated power restoration time.
