One Roof Community Housing was awarded $225,000 from the U.S. Department of Treasury to be used for helping people make needed home repairs.

According to a news release from One Roof, the money comes from the Treasury Department Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, which supports lending activity to low- to moderate-income households as well as economically distressed communities.

Lending Director Noah Hobbs said the loans help keep people in their homes. Repairs can include a new roof, windows, weatherization as well as updated electrical and plumbing.

"There is also a significant economic impact our lending work accomplishes as area licensed contractors are completing these jobs," Hobbs said.

One Roof staff are doing their part to help minimize COVID-19 exposure with staff working remotely, the news release stated. One Roof is still processing loan requests and is able to continue nearly all of its services.
