A 5-year-old girl from International Falls died July 11 when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding on flipped over, the Koochiching County Sheriff's Office reported.
Deputies were called at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday to County Road 91, where an ATV driven by Mandy Thornberg, 28, of International Falls, had flipped going up a hill. Passenger Kristelle Werdier died at the scene, Sheriff Brian Jespersen said. Thornberg was taken to the Rainy Lake Medical Center hospital and was later airlifted to a hospital in Duluth. The accident is being investigated by the sheriff's office.
Werdier's parents are Eric and Nikki Werdier. She was the granddaughter of John and Jackie Valentine of Duluth.
