To prep for the upcoming Twin Ports Interchange project, the southbound Interstate 35 off-ramp to 27th Avenue West in Duluth will close Monday, Dec. 30.

The closure will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while Minnesota Department of Transportation crews conduct drilling and surveying ahead of the project, according to a news release from MnDOT.

Motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously near work areas.

The interchange project is slated to start next spring and will replace a series of aging bridges and sections of elevated freeway known as the "can of worms" in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
