$470,000 raised by snowmobilers in Black Woods Blizzard Tour

The Black Woods Blizzard Tour -- a 375-mile snowmobile ride to raise money to fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease -- raised about $470,000, according to organizer Dave Kolquist.

The Black Woods Blizzard Tour -- a 375-mile snowmobile ride to raise money to fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease -- raised about $470,000, according to organizer Dave Kolquist.

The three-day ride started in Proctor on Thursday, then went to Fortune Bay on Lake Vermilion, back south through Two Harbors and ended in Duluth on Saturday.

This year's event drew 148 riders. Each rider in the event had to raise at least $900 to participate.
