A 55-year-old woman was rescued near the Superior Entry Wednesday afternoon after she became stranded on a cement block.

St. Louis County Rescue Squad, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Duluth Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a report of a woman in distress around 3:34 p.m. Wednesday. The woman became stranded on a cement block while attempting to dock her sailboat that had drifted into Lake Superior, a news release said.

The woman was located by the Fire Department and transported to St. Luke's hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
