The Rice Lake Township planning and zoning commission yesterday decided to take the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District to court. The township is contending that the district needs a conditional-use permit to continue dumping sewage sludge at its Rice Lake landfill.
Superior grain inspectors are refusing to work overtime on Sundays and holidays beginning June 1 unless wage levels are increased. Informational picketing in protest of present wages will go up today at the Grain Regulation Bureau office at 404 Tower Ave.

New Twin Ports college graduates embark on their careers this month into what may be the best job market in years. With the robust economy, even liberal arts majors, who typically have a harder time finding jobs, are getting good offers.
Duluth Central Little League began its season yesterday with a party to thank sponsors and contributors who donated $17,000 to replace the building and equipment destroyed in two arson fires last year. More than 500 kids will play in the league this year.
