Final regulations governing use of motorboats in the BWCA were announced yesterday by the U.S. Forest Service in Duluth. The regulations allow for use of larger "kicker" or auxiliary motors on lakes limited to 25-horsepower or 10-horsepower motors.

The Minnesota House Appropriations Committee education division this week approved $3,320,000 for construction of a School of Business and Economics Building at UMD. The proposed two-story structure will house programs now currently scattered around campus, according to UMD Provost Robert Heller.

Northland Broadcasting LLC completed its move to the state-of-the-art radio studios on Central Entrance over the weekend. Northland, which owns KKCB-FM 105.1, WEBC-AM 560, and KLDJ-FM 101.7, purchased the former Color Tile building and remodeled it to house the stations.

Dozens of fires were reported across the Northland yesterday when high winds combined with dry conditions from lack of rain. The most serious fire, about 10 miles northeast of Iron River in the Chequamegon National Forest, had burned 300 acres by last evening.
