One person was injured after fire broke out Sunday afternoon in a Cloquet apartment building.

Crews from the Cloquet Area Fire District responded to the fire in the 500 block of Fourth Street at about 2:30 p.m., according to Fire Chief Kevin Schroeder.

The building was evacuated, but the fire was contained to a single apartment. Crews entered the building and rescued its lone occupant, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After ventilating smoke from the rest of the building, firefighters allowed residents to return.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The department received aid from Carlton Ambulance and Cloquet and Fond du Lac police.
