Oral arguments will be presented this morning in St. Louis, MO, in the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union's fight to stop the St. Louis County Board from praying before its regular meetings. Duluth lawyer Newton Friedman is handling the case for the Civil Liberties Union.

The freeway extension through downtown Duluth is being delayed until a new location can be found to sidetrack DW&P trains. The 120-car trains enter Duluth and are temporarily kept on a stretch of track between Garfield Avenue and First Avenue East.

Today, Superior's Richard Bong Heritage Center will receive $50,000 in donations and kick off the second phase of its fund-raising. Supporters will lobby lawmakers in Madison later this month to approve a $1 million matching grant for the $3.5 million center.

A house fire in Duluth's Lakeside neighborhood this weekend caused $50,000 in damage and left a family homeless. Duluth fire investigators say the fire at 4809 Dodge St. appears to have been started by children playing with a candle.
