Update: Hunters asked to look for signs of missing hunter in Nemadji State Forest
The Pine County Sheriff's Office is asking hunters to keep an eye open for signs of a 59-year-old hunter missing in the Nemadji State Forest since Sunday, Nov. 4, after official search efforts were suspended Wednesday evening.
David Peltier was reported missing just before 11:30 Sunday morning, and more than 100 people have searched for him since then, the sheriff’s office said Thursday morning.
But volunteers and multiple agencies have found "no sign of him," the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office is now asking for hunters in the area to look for any signs of Peltier and report anything found.
Peltier was hunting and reported missing when he did not return to the group's cabin. The group was hunting along the Gandy Dancer Trail near Belden, the sheriff's office said.
The 92,000-plus acre Nemadji State Forest is located on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border in Carlton and Pine counties.
