A state grant will help Cook County help residents with developmental disabilities find work.

The $75,303 Small Innovation Grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services will be used to fund a part-time employment specialist to work out of the Human Development Center in Grand Marais, according to a Cook County news release.

The specialist’s job will be “to help persons with disabilities achieve integrated, competitive employment in Cook County,” the release said.

“We have a firm grasp of what is working well in our community, but are also keenly aware of the service gaps in Cook County,” said Martina Williams, of Cook County Public Health and Human Services.
