Pressroom Podcast: UMD hockey players advance the Frozen Four

Jay Pickthorn / For the News Tribune Minnesota Duluth celebrates its win over Air Force in the West Regional final Saturday night at Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. UMD won 2-1 to advance to the Frozen Four.

The University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team is once again headed to the Frozen Four.

This week, News Tribune college hockey reporter Matt Wellens and arts and entertainment reporter Christa Lawler — who covered women's hockey for the News Tribune for several years — sat down with senior wing and captain Karson Kuhlman of Esko and senior center Jared Thomas of Hermantown to talk about the tournament, as well as what it's like to play for the team they grew up watching.

The Frozen Four begins Thursday, April 5, 2018 in St. Paul. The Bulldogs take on Ohio State at 5 p.m.

Visit (or buy a newspaper!) to read daily Frozen Four coverage throughout the week.

What we are into this week: college hockey and the book "I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer" by Michell McNamara.
