Duluth event to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
An event to remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 50th anniversary of his death will be held Wednesday in Duluth.
The gathering, titled “50 Voices for 50 Years,” will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on the steps of Duluth City Hall, facing Priley Drive. It will celebrate King’s legacy with a commemorative reading of 50 of his memorable statements.
Duluth Mayor Emily Larson will make opening remarks along with City Human Rights Officer Carl Crawford, followed by readings from community members.
King was assassinated in Memphis, Tenn., on April 4, 1968. The Duluth event is modeled after other national events taking place next week. Find more information at http://mlk50.civilrightsmuseum.org.
