Something smells rotten in Biwabik.

The town's fire department, in a Facebook posting this evening, reports firefighters have responded to several homes in the area of First and Second avenues north over the past few days because of complaints about a strong odor.

The smell is not that of a gas odor, according to the fire department. It's coming from sewer lines and smells like glue or paint.

Residents bothered by the smell were advised to open windows, use bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans to push it out, dump water down the sewer line and run water in their homes. If the smell persists and you're feeling ill, it's suggested you stay somewhere else for the night.
