The right lane of northbound Interstate 35 at the State Highway 45 bridge in Scanlon is scheduled to reopen Friday after being closed for a month after a dump truck hit the bridge.
A dump truck with its bed lifted up struck the freeway bridge over Highway 45 on Oct. 10; the bed hit the bridge and ripped off the truck, becoming lodged in the bridge mount. The driver was cited.
Damage to the bridge was repaired using a “heat-straightening process,” the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported.
Meanwhile, there will be daytime single-lane closures on southbound I-35 at Highway 46 in Sturgeon Lake as crews repair the bridge across the freeway that also was recently struck and damaged.
Traffic restrictions remain in place on Highway 46. the work is expected to be complete by early next week, MnDOT said.
