Rescue squads helped guide nine Girl Scouts out of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness early Saturday morning after several were believed to have been struck by lightning late Friday night.
"Two were showing symptoms that have us concerned," Rick Slaten with the St. Louis County Rescue Squad said at about 10 p.m. as the team was moving by ground and paddle toward Knife Lake near the Canadian border.
Just before 4 a.m. the entire party and all rescue personnel had arrived safely at Moose Landing, according to a rescue squad post on Facebook.
All nine were "awake, alert and able to move without assistance" and were never missing or trapped, the team clarified.
More details are expected from the Lake County Sheriff's Office later today.
