St. Louis County authorities searching for NERCC escapee

Lance William Olson

Authorities in St. Louis County are searching for a 30-year-old man who escaped from the Northeast Regional Corrections Center (NERCC) earlier this week.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reported Friday night that it is seeking the public's assistance in locating Lance William Olson. He was last seen at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, and the Sheriff's Office said it believes he was picked up by an unknown person driving a white truck. Olson was serving time for felony theft and assault, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office describes Olson as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall with hazel eyes. He has multiple tattoos on his face and neck, including a noticeable tattoo around both eyebrows, on top of his head and on both sides of his neck.

He has several associates in the area, authorities said. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the St. Louis Sheriff's Office at (218) 625-3581.

NERCC is located about 12 miles northwest of Duluth.
