Duluth hit a high of 90 degrees on Thursday, the first time the city has reached that mark in nearly two years.

The National Weather Service reported that it was the first 90-degree reading at the Duluth airport since Aug. 26, 2013. It was just one degree off the record for Aug. 13, which remains 91 degrees, set in 1970.

Other high temperatures reported on Thursday included 91 at Two Harbors and Silver Bay; 90 at the Duluth harbor, Cloquet, Bigfork and Ashland; 89 at Superior; 88 at Hibbing and Grand Rapids; and 87 at International Falls.

The forecast for the Northland today calls for sunny skies and highs in the mid- to upper 80s. Highs may climb to near 90 degrees again on Saturday before showers and storms usher in cooler conditions for early next week.
