The city of Duluth is asking all residents to conserve water until Thursday night while water mains are being repaired and serviced.
City officials are asking residents to postpone using appliances that use a lot of water, such as washing machines, dishwashers and hot tubs, until the repairs are finished, probably by Thursday night.
Residents also are asked not to water their lawns during the repairs.
Duluth Public Works and Utilities Department crews are working to repair several water main breaks and also are conducting necessary maintenance on a water transmission line which is a main feeder that serves all areas in the city.
Water service will not be interrupted but the system could be strained if there is high demand from customers during the repairs.
