The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people and recovered the dead body of a fourth person Sunday afternoon, after an 18-foot vessel overturned in Lake Superior about two miles northeast of Little Presque Isle, Mich.

Authorities received a distress call and responded with a 25-foot response boat. Three of the people aboard the capsized vessel were recovered about 1:30 p.m.

A fourth person remained missing, but a body was recovered a short while later. Assisting in the search were a Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter dispatched from Traverse City, Mich., and vessels from the Marquette County Sheriff's Department.

The names of the deceased and rescued boaters were withheld Sunday to permit time for family members to be notified.
