UMD women's hockey team to be honored at White House
The Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team will be honored by President George W. Bush on June 24 at the White House in Washington, D.C.
The NCAA Division I champions will be part of a 2:30 p.m. CDT ceremony on the South Lawn.
Previous UMD championship teams were honored by President Bush in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
Last season, UMD beat New Hampshire 3-2 and Wisconsin 4-0 to capture the NCAA title at the Women's Frozen Four on March 20 and 22 at the DECC.
The Bulldogs set a school record at 34 wins, with Western Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season and playoff titles.
UMD Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin will make the trip with the team.
