Denver will almost certainly host the 2010 U.S. Olympic Curling Team trials.

While a final agreement hasn't been signed, the U.S. Curling Association Board of Directors voted Saturday to accept a bid presented by the Metro Denver Sports Commission to host the competition Feb. 21-28, 2009, at the Broomfield Event Center. The 7,000-plus seat arena is located between Denver and Boulder.

It is expected that 10 men's and 10 women's teams will compete in the trials, which will determine USA Curling's nomi-nees for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. The trials will also serve as the 2009 USA Curling National Championships, with the winning teams advancing to the 2009 World Championships.

Denver beat out bids from Bismarck, N.D.; Fairbanks, Alaska; Milwaukee, Wis.: and Rochester, N.Y., to host the trials.
