The agribusiness giant keeps getting bigger.

Cargill Inc. today reported revenue of $88.3 billion for fiscal year 2007, retaining its stature as Minnesota's largest corporation -- and among the largest corporate giants of America.

For Cargill, a privately held company based in Minnetonka, Minn., earnings climbed 36 percent to $2.34 billion for the year. In the fourth quarter alone, earnings rose 75 percent.

The firm is a worldwide power in grain, commodities, food ingredients and financial trading. It operates in 66 countries--three more than last year--and in the past year added 9,000 employees to its worldwide total of 158,000.

Outgoing Chairman Warren Staley credited the results to the firm's "business diversity and global reach, our solutions approach to serving customers and our team's ability to manage supply chains and price risk in fast-changing markets."
