As the clock ran out, the scoreboard told the tale as jubilant Hermantown fans celebrated their quarter-final victory Wednesday afternoon against East Grand Forks in the opening round of the State High School Hockey Tournament at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul. In other first-round action, the Marshall Hilltoppers saw their state championship hopes dashed as they fell to Benilde-St. Margaret's.
