MINNEAPOLIS -- A 2 year-old Alexandria, Minn., boy died Monday, four weeks after falling through the ice on a central Minnesota lake with his grandfather.

Hayden Minnerath died at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
Hayden and his grandfather, 50-year-old James Minnerath of Alexandria, were riding across Lake Andrew near Alexandria on March 3 when their Ranger ATV broke through an isolated patch of bad ice.
It’s unknown how long the two were underwater before being pulled from the lake. James died a few hours after being pulled from the water.
James had been celebrating his 50th birthday and had been plowing snow in the neighborhood and riding the ATV on Lake Andrew with Hayden.
The ATV was a Polaris Ranger Class II ATV, equipped with tracks, a snow plow and an enclosed cab. It sank to the bottom in approximately 18 feet of water.
Funeral arrangements for Hayden have not been announced.
Services for James Minnerath took place March 21.
