An 18-year-old man was stabbed twice in the leg in the Superior Street skywalk between the Holiday Center and Wells Fargo Bank Sunday afternoon.

Police don't know what prompted the stabbing, Duluth police spokesman James Hansen said. The victim's wounds were not life-threatening.

Police and emergency workers responded to the Holiday Center after the stabbing was reported at 5:08 p.m. The victim was sitting up on a gurney when he was taken to a Gold Cross ambulance to be transported to a hospital.

The suspect is described as an American Indian in his teens, 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 10 with a skinny build, short brown hair and clean-shaven. He may have a cut on a hand. Police recovered a knife at the scene.
